Consisting of 35 towns and cities and around 24 unincorporated communities, Marin County is the smallest county in the San Francisco Bay Area in terms of size and population This coastal region is known for its breathtaking beauty and boasts a convenient location just across the Golden Gate Bridge from San Francisco. The Napa and Sonoma wine country is its northwestern neighbor while the Pacific Ocean borders it to the east.

Nearly 80% of Marin is dedicated to preserved open space. With water on three sides, an abundance of redwood forests, and a wealth of cultural attractions, Marin County is a one-of-kind location that attracts some of the most affluent and discriminating homeowners in the country.

Real estate in Marin County

Marin County registered a median home selling price of $1.4 million in August, 2022. On average, homes were sold at their listing price. As with most other counties in the San Francisco Bay Area, Marin is a seller’s market as buyers outnumber sellers in the area. With only a limited number of homes in the county, buyers eagerly seize the opportunity to buy a property almost as soon as it comes on the market.

Luxury properties are the norm in Marin. Multimillion dollar oceanfront properties boast amazing views and great access to the water. Further inland, you can find relatively more affordable homes that offer great value. A number of condos and townhomes provide additional real estate options to home buyers.
