Solano County is composed of eleven towns and cities, as well as several unincorporated communities. Fairfield, the county seat and largest city, is home to Travis Air Force Base.   There are nine museums in Solano County showcasing the area’s rich past, including its Native American heritage and close affinity with the military. The Western Railway Museum in Suisun City is a popular family destination with its exhibit of vintage trains and scheduled interurban electric train rides along the historic Sacramento Northern Railroad.
