Main Content

Comprising over 35 towns and cities, Sonoma County is the largest wine producing region in the United States. It boasts more American Viticultural Areas (AVAs) and wineries than any other region in the US, besting even its wine country neighbors, Napa, Lake, and Mendocino Counties.

Sonoma is more than just a grape-growing region. Ranked 8th in agricultural production throughout the United States, the county also has extensive hop, prune, and apple production, as well as significant dairy and poultry industries.

With the residents’ commitment to grow and preserve the area’s vast open spaces, Sonoma County is a great place for those who want to live an active lifestyle amid the tranquility and charm of the countryside. While largely agricultural, the area also boasts sophisticated amenities and attractions, including some of the best restaurants in the region.

Real estate in Sonoma County

Just like most other communities in the area, Sonoma County is a seller’s market. Homes here generally sell at their listing prices, and on average, stay on the market for only 60 days.

In August, 2022, the median home price was $849,000, an increase of 13.2% from the previous year. However, there’s a wide range of prices and sizes to match the preferences of various buyers – from multimillion dollar farms and estates with over 100 acres to more standard sized homes with expansive yards, and everything in between.

Ranch style homes dominate the market, but you will also find quite a few Mediterranean, cottage, and cabin style homes.
